Our Mission
We are a diverse county-wide coalition of interfaith advocates. We are united to raise the level of awareness of inequities among our communities by conducting outreach and education. We mobilize communities to influence policy and public opinion to achieve social and economic justice for the dignity of all people.
History
Ventura County Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE-VC) was founded in 2001 to build support for struggling workers and their families. Since then:
- We’ve been part of local justice movements to win Living Wage Ordinances; to create farm worker housing; to keep ICE Out of Ventura County; and to develop the monthly Swap Meet Justice citizenship and social justice fairs at the Oxnard College swap meet.
- We’ve led locally - spearheading the local Sanctuary project to protect a young mother from deportation; creating the Farm Worker Housing Immersion Program to educate congregants and student groups about the reality of farm worker life; and founding Dreamer Without Borders-Ventura County and the Safe Zones for Dreamers advocacy project.
- We even helped change national deportation policy!
